I saw my first show in April of 1996. I loved it and HAD to go every week! It was my first experience seeing a man in women's lingerie and I drooled over the the Frank, thinking he was a god. I liked the Magenta character right away and went home and practiced the part about 100 times and glued together a Magenta costume.
I "got my break" when I was needed as an emergency fill-in for Magenta in June of '96. Shortly thereafter, I became lead Magenta for Interchangeable Parts. I lost the part in the next auditions (to a stripper and the Frank's wife), but I won understudy Frank, so I began practicing that part and put together a costume. Several months later, the part of lead Frank became open, so I became lead Frank in late 1996 and loved it just as much as I loved Magenta, if not more.
You couldn't tear me away from a show and I try to get every movement right. I've played every character in the movie at least once due to switch nights, but my favorite roles are still Frank and Magenta.
Back in 1998, the cast decided it needed a website and everyone else kept falling through, so I decided to make one, myself, although I didn't know how. I started teaching myself HTML made the cast website. It has gone through many overhauls since, but I write all of the HTML manually. I can usually be seen taking pictures at the show, too
I performed on the Larger Than Life cast's annual Tampa Theatre shows from 1997 until its last show in 2004. The show had very competitive auditions, also. In 1997, I was understudy Frank and performed Frank during the church scene, Dinner scene, Planet Schmanet, and shopping cart scene, and I was also a Transylvanian. From 1998-2004, I was lead Magenta every year. That show averaged over 1,400 people and I'd heard it was one of the biggest RHPS Halloween shows in the world. Sal Piro, the RHPS fan club president, attended that show for the last several years it was going.
From 2003-Jan 2005, I was also on the Orlando cast, The Rich Weirdos, and performed there every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, as a Trannie or Eddie, so at one point, I was on 3 casts at the same time. Yeah, I'm crazy.
