I first saw Rocky when I was 14 and totally f*cking loved it! At the time I didn't know it was still being shown on Saturday nights in certain theaters so nothing earth shattering came of it at first. Then a couple years later I heard about the annual Tampa Theatre show and went, thinking that it was just going to be the movie playing. I was surprised and equally confused by the fact that not only were people acting out the show in front of the movie, but the audience was yelling out all sorts of things and throwing stuff too! After that every year for the next couple years I would try to get people to go to the Tampa Theatre show with me, but alas all my friends suck and said no because they hated the movie. Which brings me to November 1, 2003 where my Rocky obsession truly begins. I finally meet an awesome girl who loves the movie but has never been to see it live, and we decide that since the Tampa Theatre show is going to be the day after Halloween we should dress up for the occasion. She picks Magenta because they both share very big hair, and I pick Columbia 'cause she's super cute, obnoxious, bitchy, and wears way too much eyeliner...who could ask for anything more?! So we make our costumes and both end up having an awesome time. Then through a flier I find out that Interchangeable Parts does the show every weekend in St. Pete so I started showing up in costume on Saturday nights. After visiting the cast's site I decided to e-mail their Magenta to tell her what a great time I had at the show and she turns out to be such a cool person that we keep in contact until one day she tells me that they need someone to do dinner scene Columbia the following weekend. After that night they couldn't get rid of me!
